I'm wondering what planned rest days most of you have. Do you guys plan for weekly time off? or do you run evereryday?
I shoot for at least five days a week but should my weekly goal be seven?

I take at least one day a week off from running. Early on in my running career, I tried running 7 days a week and found that I got more aches and pains than normal and sometimes I'd wind up injured. I've since resigned myself to running only 6 days a week and banking on the 1 day of rest as insurance against injuries.

When I ran I usually did 5 days a week, mostly in a row. Weekends off.
Now that I exclusively ride, I ride 5-6 days a week, with a day off during the week sometime

One day a week of total zippo training-wise. Depending on where I am in my seasons, I may run 6-days a week or as few as 3-days a week, but I'll cross-train on alternate days to always get in 6-days of training.

Depends on where i am in my training. i always have at least one day a week off and sometimes two days in a row. rest day always follows hardest, end of cycle, day and before my long slow day, beginning of cycle.

I run my best when running only 4 or 5 days a week.
Iv'e found that by running more than this, I really slow down.
Each person is different in this area....Many run 6 days a week. You just kind of have to learn how your body reacts to stress. I need rest to run my best.

Personally, I much prefer running 7 days per week, even when I'm out of shape and all of those runs need to be very short and slow. The reason for this is simply if I plan days off, it is real easy to skip a day figuring I'll make it up on my off day. Then that doesn't happen for some reason and I just get further behind. Next thing I know a day or two off per week turns into more days, and maybe even a week straight. I just need to get into a solid routine and stick with it, and running every day really helps keep me consistent. Not everyone needs that, but I do at least.

Typically I take one day off a week.
However, around the holidays I would take two days off here and there. I found that I came back more refreshed and stronger with my running. I felt less wear on my legs and was a lot more motivated as well.
I'm also one who goes with what my body is saying. If my body tells me that it hurts...I get off the treadmill. I remember one day getting on for .25 miles. My legs were very sore and I just decided to get off. No sense hurting myself or having a horrible run.
This is just me and what has worked for me.

I usually run 5 or 6 days a week. Sometimes, I drop to 4 just for a little extra rest. I think it all depends on how you feel, and what your goals are.

I never plan days off but take them when I feel I need them. Like someone else said, if I put them in my schedule, I'd probably miss more than the one day planned.

Usually I run 6 days a week with 1 rest day at the end of the week for recovery. However after particularly hard sessions like races, I may take a day or 2 off.

i wish i could run every day! however, in doing so, i find i run much slower and i end up with some sort of injury. now i generally take two days off each week. but it really depends on the person. some people could probably run every day and have no problem. for me, that doesnt work. the best thing to do is to listen to your body. if you run more frequently and find you are slowing down or are in pain, then a day of rest may be what you need. rest days are nothing to be ashamed about! i appreciate my run more following a day of rest.
