One the models that will tell you your heart rate avg. for a run, does it do it on-the-fly while you're running or does it just present the information to you at the end?

Tells you on the fly. I have the Polar XT, and it changes as your HR changes. Neat to watch the HR creep up as you run up a hill. I have mine set to a five minutes recovery rate when I finish to give me an idea how fast my HR comes down.

john some of the watches cycle different
the one greg and i use polar xt
changes every second
some of the cheaper ones cycle and check every 6
i can clearly see the difference especially when i do intervals, it is real neat to watch it jump several beats and come down when you recover
i like sitting before i run to see how low i get the hr
