Got to QC on Sat morn. Dropped my Dad off at the Casino and headed to the expo for the packet pickup.
Getting out of the Casino parking garage was not a problem, however...within the first mile out I had to cross 3 lanes of traffic to get to our exit (we were in Bettendorf and needed to go to Moline) and I THOUGHT I had my blinky on, but it must have gone off when I adjusted the wipers as it had started to rain also. JU kept saying to the sky "GET IT OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM NOW!" . My 8 year old went along to run the 5K with me also...so it was the three of us
Got the pkts, looked over the expo...not much there, so off on our adventure to try and find JU a long sleeve wicking shirt...two hours later and many wrong turns...no shirt. Back to Bettendorf we go..."OH YEAH...don't forget the beer" Just get me back pleeeease.
Up at 5am, after a night of my son kicking me, JU snoring...she claims I snore....humpf....I was awake all night
Coffee, trip outside to check weather. It says 56` 10-20mph winds
Off we go......I remember which lane to be in today...TYVM...it helps that there is like 3 other cars out at 6:30am on a Sunday morn.
Get off the ramp and the way I know to go to the parking spot we want is blocked off for the run! SH!T. Ok...we'll follow these other people and pull a U-ey and downtown we go. We get to another spot and it's blocked too! WTF!!! So I start weaving my way through parking lots. I'm driving parallel to the start, and we want to get to this spot we were at last year cause it's right by the Port O Pots...my only choice is to go into this parking garage and I have to go around a gate arm the WRONG direction, until low and behold I'm at the entrance of the lot we want! Ah...the planets are aligning!
It started to mist, the wind picked up a bit, the temp dropped, it was very cool today...perfect except for the wind.
My son is just visibly shaking at the line up! he is so nervous. He says he's staying with me the whole way, I'm like Kay TomE, you n me buddy~! One mile out he took off
Good for him! YAY TomE! He ran a 30:43
My goal was 35:00 or under. My best 5K two years ago MadCity was 35:34. I ran a 35:04 today...... not my goal, but a PR nontheless. So, I'm satisfied with what I did, more room for improvement.
I got hardware too! My first!
Here's Deb coming into the chute
edited for incorrect past PR time! I looked it up while checking my time this year and it is a 30 second PR not a 3sec PR...so that makes me more happy

Yup, a PR is a PR JR. I know you're disappointed a bit but you done did good. Suprising seeing you had to deal with me all weekend. Great job by TomE too. It will be interesting to see where his running goes in the future. Or not.

Getting to run a race with your son is way better than laying down a huge PR Congratulations on a great race!
