Posted: 08/25/03 - 15:41 Post subject: Purple Daughter
My 4 year old daughter has been fighting a virus for a few days now. She keeps running a high fever in between Motrin doses. Well. yesterday she says, in a worried tone of voice, "Mommy, I am purple." Sure enough, her arms and legs are turning blue!! After a quick trip to the doctor, we were informed that with a high fever, the body will pull blood from the extremities to the core. Who knew?
Anyone else ever heard of this? I have heard of this when you get really cold, but never with a high fever.

it is what frostbite victims have too.
I have seen blue faced kids, two of mine and a few others... I would much rather see the arms blue trust me

actually, I hate to tell you this, but what it really means is that she's a Vikings fan.

The only time I've ever heard of a child turning purple in color was when he had pneumonia. Does your daughter have asthma or a chest cold? I would freak out myself. I hope she gets better for you.

Poor little thing... Well wishes for little PB... and calm moments wished for you and mrs PB.
Be glad she's taking Motrin... my kids hate to take medicine and occasionally throw it up.

Im currently reading The Stand by Stephen King and what your daughter currently has resembles the symptoms of the super flu virus in the story....Just kidding, but it's seems kinda creepy...
