I like running, swimming, cycling and many other sports. In fact I am very much in favor of any sport. I think that sport is what we need to get closer to each other. I think that many fights and wars could have been avoided if people had participated in some sport events that include many different people, nations and races. What do you think about promoting peace through sport?

Yes it has been proved many times before that sport brings people together. After all in Ancient Greece, during the Olympic Games all hostilities and feud had been put aside and people were competing in a spirit of good will and peace. Although sometimes spoiled by the politics, that is the general idea behind modern Olympic Games. There have been many sport events that promoted peace and cooperation between nations and races so I strongly support sport as a peace promotion activity.

This is a really relevant topic for right now, considering all of the protests going on leading up to the Beijing Olympics. I think sports should definitely be used to promote peace, but at the same time I respect those bringing attention to human rights violations in parts of the world.
