It's late. Tomorrow is my mother's birthday, and I have been working on a special art project as her gift. I've really been working on it for weeks, but still have a fair amount to do. here I sit, procrastinating. It doesn't have to be done until sunday, but i won't have much time tomorrow to work on it, other than to add some finishing touches.

I'm making a book in a box. the individual pages will be attached by a ribbon so that as she lifts the first page each page will continue to lift out of the box. The subject is tea, because she is a tea pot collector. The final page is a photo of her parents from about 40 years ago. I've used some things that I've drawn, and also collaged some actual tea bag stuff to some of the pages. plus I found some nice tea quotes to include. What a good son my mom has!

The final pic surrounded by ribbon is of my grandparents taken about 1959. It's a gel medium image transfer, so i was able to color the paper beneath it and have it show through the pic.

That is really, really impressive! I would have never thought of such a thing, much less been able to create it! Your mother will love it!

That's really cool! I wish I had talent.....I can take great pictures, but the stuff is already there, it's just knowing how to capture it. I'd much rather be able to paint, draw and stuff.

Oh, and that milestone? Merely a new age group, which is a good thing! Wink

I think it's wonderful. And you actually do see more "folk" art in galleries now. It's becoming more appreciated for it's beauty. Galleries (at least here) are changing their themes a bit; it's no longer "What's the most shocking thing I can show", but more of a celebration of local artists and uniquie mediums.
At any rate, don't sell yourself short.
