President Reagan was shot and did not exercise the 25th amendment.

Wrong President, wrong ailment. It was a jibe at the initial non-response from President George W Bush to 9/11 in the classroom.

For you. I'm sure that's not what Go meant.

Nope, that's what I meant. Reading My Pet Goat while looking around the room twitching one's eyelids is not the hallmark of decisive leadership I was hoping for.

I was just naming an example. I think the flu shouldn't be considered as the biggest threat to our President, nor should not getting a flu shot be considered "reckless" as it doesn't necessarily prevent anything.

I stand corrected. Since we think "so in sync" politically I thought you were referring to an 80s crisis, not a current one.

I would.
People, it's the FLU. Let's put it in perspective. It's not like it's the president has a major heart condition necessitating a defibrillator. That's what the vice presidency is for. |
It is the Flu. It's not just a small headcold, runny nose and a cough. At least, at times it's not just that. Probably in most cases you'll just feel a little tired and minorly sick. But it can be worse. You can get sick enough to be stuck in bed (or by the toilet) and that's a bad place to be when you have to lead our country in a crisis.
Shoot, my wife (before we were married) berated me for not getting a flu shot.

In your defense, I believe it was President Harrison who died from pneumonia after his inauguration.

It's not the biggest threat to the President, but it just seems like a bad idea for the President to not get all the preventative care that is available. Plus we're being told what a risk the flu is this year and that it will be so much worse than previous years because of the vaccine shortage. So to have a person in a true leadership position to decide to not to get a vaccine...it rubbed me the wrong way when he said it and it continues to.

Interesting - it appears you think the President actually runs the country unilaterally.

Not at all. But when you need a leadership decision, especially in a time of crisis...
I'm not at all concerned about the President becoming ill in most instances. I just have this nagging fear that it'll happen at the worst possible time.

I think Bush should get one.
Because I don't want him to get sick and die and leave Cheney in charge.
Of course after November 2nd the point is moot.
