PostPosted: 06/16/05 - 13:41    Post subject: Prayers, please
About a month ago I took a test at the doctor’s office that determines if a baby will be born with Down’s syndrome and several other things. The doctor told me before I took the test that it would come back positive because I am over 35 yrs old. The typical ratio for someone over 35 to have a Down’s baby is 1:101. My chances have been determined to be 1:30. Obviously this is of concern to me. While I had the doctor of the phone I told him that I didn’t think I had felt the baby move yet (I’m almost in my 20th week). He said I should have felt the baby by at least week 16-18. So, he wants me to come in for an ultrasound on Monday if I haven’t felt anything by then.

Please pray for a happy, healthy baby! Smile

Prayers sent. Everything will be OK. Doctors are always worst case scenario.

Try to keep your mind as rest as best as you can. It's hard to worry about little unborn ones...I know.

1) Those tests have stressed every person out that I have known to have taken them. My girlfriends have had many false results making them worry over nothing. The best bet is an amnio being done, IMO.

2) Nole3 was not felt until my 21st week due to the placenta in his way to kick. I worried...and worried...and worried...and finally he grew big enough to kick the hell out of me. This is after 2 kickers in the 18th week.

So...try to keep your mind at ease.

sending prayers.

i refused that test because of the chance of false positives making me stress. i had the amnio.

doctors do like to put the worst case before you; at least that's been my experience. no matter, i'm sure you're concerned. too bad
