Post your average speed on bike?

I am interested in riding speed. Riding for fun or for fitness sake is OK but how do you know that you are good or getting better? Speed, of course. It is an objective measure and you know if you have made it or not. Could you post your average speed on bike?

The riding speed depends on so many things that it is very hard to give the exact figure. Generally speaking and all factors taken into consideration, the average speed is around 14-15 mph. Depending on the combination of bike and rider and the distance being ridden an average speed for a road bike is somewhere between 17 and 25mph. So 18+ mph is a good average speed. Pros not included. Some riders riding in a big group called Peloton can ride on average of 30 mph. But this is a tactical maneuver and the leader is being replaced every now and then. You can achieve this only if you are cycling in a group. This is what the guys at the Tour de France do.
