Has anyone ever tried this, especially after a long distance race?? I am thinking about signing up for it after my marathon in 2 weeks but I am kind of wondering if it will help with my recovery??

I got a massage the day after my last half marathon - all I can tell you is that I was walking like Frankenstein on the way in, but could walk normally when I came out. I'd say that yes, it helped me.

However, just because my muscles didn't hurt anymore doesn't mean that I could run worth a darn for a week or so - my legs were still just as tired as always.

It felt darn good, though! thumbs up

I think I might arrange for them during my weekend in Tampa. I need to go look at the website for the details again.

Enjoy! One word of advice, though - I'd stay away from anything called a 'deep tissue' massage. If you're already sore, it's murder.

They're great to have after a race and feel great. They release all the lactic acid in your muscles though, so I've heard that you should do an easy run the day after to flush it out of your system.

I had one for the first time after my fall marathon. It worked out great since I had been having some IT band issues during the race. I just told the MT that and he worked on that area and other areas where I had been over compensating. Also got ice on the IT band right away.

The only problem was they had me face down on the table and after running the 'thon, I couldn't get up, seriously, they had to help (hoist) me off of the table Embarassed My quads weren't participating anymore Mr. Green

I do think it helped with recovery from the race.

Just a word of caution... if you have very hairy legs, you may want to shave them or at the very least request that they use extra oil/lotion/whatever.

Well I am guilty of the hairy legs.

I wonder what my buddies would say if I showed up back at work with hair less legs??
