"Who will tell the people" by William Grider.
And this suggestion is by a lobbyist.

I understand. I think the idea came out of a spirit of gaining some common ground. To that end we're all thinking of books that are not the Coulter, Hannity, Moore, Franken mode.
Pug,
How about Wealth and Democracy by Kevin Phillips.
I will second Alan's choice, btw. Who'll Tell the People is a great book. Been a while since I read it so I could happily do it again.
Perhaps also consider Toxic Sludge is Good for You, as long as we're continuing with lobbyist bashing

Okay fair enough Rex as long as it is not any of the "extreme" books I am on board.

I like the idea, but I'm taking two graduate courses this semester and could also possibly be changing jobs soon so I'll sit back, see what is chosen and see whether I can find the time to read and participate....
Greider's book is excellent by the way...
Anything by Phillips would also be an excellent choice.

I am currently reading a book called Carnage and Cultu[/i[i]]re by Victor Davis Hansen. He is tracing 9 major battles throughout history and is showing why the western way of life, war and ideals is better. he makes pretty strong arguements. He does have a political slant, he is a strong conservative, but give a great historical ideas about the reasons and ideology of west and east. Interesting stuff.
