I voted for 20 minutes, but it's so rare that I go out to eat that my opinion really isn't worth much.

I find that the time I have to wait for a meal directly correlates to the number of children in my party. 20 minutes is a lifetime when you have 3 under the age of 6.

I can't really vote here. It all depends on the type of restaurant, the type of meal, what I am in the mood for, and how busy the place is. If it is a nice fancy place, I will gladly wait and have another glass of wine while talking with friends. If I am supah hungry and in a hurry - I'm not waiting for nuttin. I'd rather leave and go somewhere else.

I have to add the hungry cranky kid, to the equation. 10 minutes can be a very long time.

Robin and I alone, I do not mind waiting 20 minutes or so. I have found though I order an appetizer immediately that way I at least get something to eat soon.
Should not take longer than 20 minutes though.
With the kids, fast food only, and drive through

As Rando said it depends on the place, how busy it is, and how hungry I am. If I see a place is packed, I'll go else where. My husband is a nut about the appetizer It's supposed to come before the meal!!

It depends on the type of restaurant. My biggest pet peeve is when the server doesn't time the food properly and you have an appetizer, salad, and your entree all at the same time, OR when they try to rush you through a course. (obviously we're not talking about Bob Evans here, but if we're going to spend upwards of $20 a person for dinner then it should be a leisurely experience, not fast food).
