A topic on the radio this morning prompted me to ask. Also a friend of mine is having an "issue" with this.

Is it acceptable to have a baby shower for a second child after you've already had one for the first?

Discuss.

I think so.

I think any baby is a time to celebrate. And if someone wants to put one together, more power to them!

Although, for a second baby I once threw a "mom" shower. And the gifts were for mom.

i wouldn't object to going to a second kid shower....there are some things that just need updating like burping bibs and sleepers; they always get trashed and you always need diapers. i'd take diapers and wipes, lots of 'em. who knows, she might even need a new bouncy seat by now, maybe hers was recalled or something

i see no problem as long as the mom can tell you stuff she needs.

Keeping children clean is very difficult, and bathing them one after another can get tiring.

I don't think your friend would have issues if she tried giving them a bath instead of a shower. They are small, after all, and can't even stand up at first!

I don't know. In general I probably wouldn't go. I didn't have one for Jax after JR.

Now, in the situation of my best friend, she thought she was finished having children and already got rid of all her baby stuff. She needed another shower to get the essentials again.

Similar to a wedding shower for someone who has already been married. I don't go to those either. I think they're tacky.

Just me, though.

I tend to agree with you. The problem is that once they get older and can do the showering thing all by themselves I've discovered that the male of the species won't bother unless he thinks the potential for an age appropriate female to be around him exists.

I was kinda on the "once is enough" side, but since you mentioned "mom" presents, I think I'm gonna start cranking out babies like the Mars plant cranks out candy bars.

No. But if I were, I'd have a head start on that new bike I want. Very Happy

There is no present made that would convince me to get pregnant again. Nothing. (And it's not the pregnancy that is so difficult-it's the following 35 years)
