Plus the kids putting chewed gum under your lazyboy would get old!

Oh and to answer the question. I could definitely work from home. I could put in 8 hours of work there and get more done than 11 here!

I could prolly bring down $20/hour teaching piano lessons privately at home. But I absolutely hate sitting there for hours on end listening to kids whose parents want them to do everything so they didn't have time to practice this week.....that gets old real fast. I haven't taught piano lessons for over 5 years.

I liked it. But then again, in my last position the department had a few really nasty people, so it wasn't like I was missing any valuable social interaction, unless I wanted to take lessons on backstabbing and screaming and cussing at your co-workers. Even though I need a job, I do not miss corporate America.
Also, you can multi-task with personal stuff (i.e. throw in laundry, dishes, etc) and not get too distracted.

When I had bad commutes, I'd work at home once a week. LOVED it. Gave me a chance to work on all my confidential stuff sans hassle. I got more done in 2-3 hours at home than I did during a full day in the office thanks to the office-based time suckage of meetings and such. Now I'm so close to the office it doesn't matter to me either way.

Sounds like a great idea to me! Which probably means I'd hate it if I actually got to do it.

I do it and I just love it . But then I work to appointments whith people so there isn't much room to slack, and the multi tasking thing works quite well between clients. If I have more than an hour and a half between clients then I can get some training in rather than catch up on some paperwork or laundry which I do during the shorter breaks. The downside for me is that since I've been working from home I rarely have any time to hang out here .

Your new boss sounds like a real meanie!!!! You need to demand longer Riff Raff breaks. They're good for your well being, you know!!

I'm not sure. The biggest part of why I want to go back to work has less to do with money and more to do with adult interaction. I've spent so much time home with young people that I long for talking to adults about things other than the children and what crazy/funny/maddening things they've done lately. If I had the option to work from home when I wanted, and come in and work in the office when I wanted, then that would be a sweet gig.

I think once both kids were in school full time I could probably do it. There would be too many distractions have them home.
