RB got me thinking the other day about how he's maintained a long distance relationship with his wife in Mexico. How he's becoming a father today and having to start his marriage away from his wife a lot. He'll be doing this as a father too.
What's the longest distance you've maintained from a SO?
How long did you keep this distance between you?
How often did you see him or her?

He lived in Indianapolis, I lived in St. Louis...4 hours.
Couldn't stand being apart, so almost every weekend.
Stood it for just over 6 months before I moved to IN.

Lubbock to Baton Rouge, 8 months maybe... I went there twice.
Edited to add that despite having to cross Texas, 8 months was not the drive time but the relationship time. It was roughly an 11.5 hour drive.

Longest and furthest? I was in Europe and she was in WI. Of course, I was only gone for 15 days or so, but it was long enough away for her to run off with a different Randy who was a muscle-bound jerk from her water ski team.

My wife and I dated in college and were apart for the summer months. She was in California and I was in Georgia.
When I was in my first year of law school, she was still in college, and we were 6 or 7 hours drive from one another. We were engaged then, which was hard to do. We only saw each other once a month for most of that period.

I had a slight "thing" with a Marine stationed in Maryland. But the idea of a long distance relationship with someone didn't appeal to me.

I was in college in Cinti, he was in Toledo. We saw each other once a month, my only weekend off from work, which usually was his guard weekend. Then I moved to Toledo after I graduated.
We'd been married a little less than a year when I took a job in Akron, about 2 hours from Toledo. So I moved there while he finished his degree, lived apart for about 6 months. We called each other on the phone for our first wedding anniversary.

I had bf in HS but we saw each other all the time.
Mr Aire was the first/only college BF I had and we were never really far apart. (I never went home for summer breaks)
But, our relationship has had the test of thousands of miles for long stretches.
Right after getting married he spent 6 weeks at a training class.
Next assignment 6 weeks at a resort in Europe. (I had to stay home)
Next assignment: 4 months in Turkey
Next assignment: 3 months in a hidden part of Korea
Next assignment: 3 months in Germany for the war
Next assignment: 7+ months in Iraq.
This isn't counting all those few days to a week that have been sprinkled liberally throughout our 16 years together.
