I have Verizon, too, and while I've had trouble of various sorts in the past, I'd never go with anyone else after all the stories I've heard from our friends about other services.
All I know is I never have to worry about service... I dial my phone and I get through every time. I like that, so it's worth rotten customer service once in a while, etc. I need to know that if I'm ever in trouble, with 2 youngsters along with me, I can get through on my phone. |
That's my big dilemma too (minus the two youngsters ) I get great reception pretty much anywhere except when I was in Iowa, including Calgary and Key West, and I have a great plan with tons of free minutes and extras that some of the other plans charge for like call forward and stuff.....but I hate to keep getting it stuck up my butt because I am a bit harder on phones than the average bear.
I've not heard good things at ALL about Cingulair but it is nice to hear from the locals that the reception is good here. I like the rollover minutes idea.

I know! I'm so jealous of that! Sometimes I use my minutes, sometimes I am waaaaay under! Gip!

I have Sprint PCS.
In my circle of friends I call the most, they are all Sprint PCS customers and we get unlimited PCS to PCS minutes for $5/month (plus the monthly service fee), night (after 7 pm) and weekend minutes free, plus nationwide long distance free on my cell phone and 50 long distance minutes free on my home phone.
I have happy with my service, but not too happy with my model of phone (Nokia handheld). The phone itself was free with me renewing my agreement for two years (after mail-in rebate), but we just don't get along too well. There'll be a day when I can throw it and be very relieved when it breaks into many pieces. Unfortunately, that day is not today (I don't have the insurance plan).
I've noticed it's best to check out the carriers of those people you call the most and get one. Most carriers have great in-network call benefits and specials.

AT&T Wireless. Had them before, back in the 80s, as well. No real problems to report in either case.

I love Nextel, their customer service is great on the couple occassions I've had to call them. They never drop my calls, and from here to IN we've always had good reception, except in the Smokies, and I figure that's a mountain thing, not a provider thing. Cannot get my radio in the Smokies either.
The radio feature is what I use the most, to call the hubby, so it's a huge perk being able to bug the hell out of him wherever he may be. The phone I only even have in the first place is because I do travel a fair amount with the children, fair distances, so it's a security thing more than anything. I can count on one hand the people who have my cellphone number (not counting the schools, that is).
Good luck on deciding what to do. I know for some it can be a big deal.

I've not had Nextel, but Larry did, and loved it. Nextel works everwhere. And, you can drop the phones in a vat of chicken stock and they will still work....

Let's see, if you're in the bathroom, talking on the phone, is the toilet lid up or down? Has any of your other phones attempted aquaticide?
You know, genie, it may not be the phone or the phone company that's the problem. Maybe it's time for remedial phone usage classes.
Hey, ever give thought to using a headset?
And for the record, Cincinnati Bell Wireless - no contracts, ever.
