Those of you who have kids. How did you know you were ready for that? Or did it just happen and you have dealt with it?

Nope, nothing I'd like to share. This last weekend I was camping with a friend and we were talking about kids, his wife want's a second child and it isn't happening, but when the first one came they were really ready. Just got me thinking.

Both Libby and Will were (and still are most days!) pleasant surprises. Jacob is our only planned child.

There are days I still don't know that I'm ready for this parenting thing!

You have no children currently, am I right?
As far as I'm concerned, you're never 'ready'. We've been trying for over a year and if I found out I was pregnant tomorrow one of my first reactions would be a big ol' selfish mourning for the way we live now. 'Cause life is good.
Don't get me wrong, I want children way mucho. But I'm honest enough to admit I'm selfish too.

Is that so strange? It's not like we all don't know where babies come from! meh

Just I know where they come from but that doesn't mean that they arrive on cue.

It's when you assume they can't, you get in trouble. Surprised

We wanted kids and we've got 'em. I wish it came as easy for others who want but either can't or have hit snags as it has for us. Sad
