I was 25 when kid no. 1 was born. I thought I was ready, it was planned, blah blah blah. I had no idea what I was in for. The Marine was hell on wheels from the day he was born. Climbing out of his crib at 8 months, walking at 9 months, first stitches at 12 months. It's no wonder we waited 5 years before having kid no. 2. They are such opposites in demeanor it's hard to believe they are related. Josh has been a piece of cake to raise compared to his brother. That said, it's been a frickin' great 21 years so far and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

We had been married 2.5 years when the discussion started. Then we went out to dinner for her birthday, *poof*. Three years later we celebrated birthday again, *poof*.
Now we celebrate her birthday seperately

I'm not sure. One minute I was politely listening to my friends stories about their kids, as well as oooing and ahhing over the pictures, but secretly glad I didn't have any of those time and money sucking critters.
Then next minute I married a man with two children, and then had one of my own. Now I'm one of them...I can't shut up about the kid, and I always have pictures.

my wife and i have been married for 3 years; it seems like it was only yesterday. we really enjoy being able to go and not go as we please.
when we are tired we go to bed, when want to lay around on a weekend we do that....if we want to take a week off and disappear, all we have to do is get the go ahead from our jobs....
weve talked about kids and we both have the same attitude that we both love being around each other so much that we dont want to share right now....
we decided wed revisit the topic again in a couple of years and see.....

After five years of marriage and the DINK lifestyle (DINK=Dual Income No Kids) we decided it was time.
We bought a lot of the nice stuff - Motorhome, great stereo, we actually owned one of the first microwave ovens in our neighborhood !!!

We wanted a child. We were married for almost 5 years when I got pregnant with Goette Une. After she was out of diapers, we decided to have another child. Happily, I got pregnant as soon as we started trying, both times. Our kids are 4 years apart, and I recommend that space, it's been very good for us.

Except I was pregnant when I married the guy with two kids.
I decided early on I didn't want more children and my husband had a vasectomy. One is plenty.

we were married 2.5 years and decided it wasn't a good time to start a family as he was just starting residency, so I went to my doctor for bcp, a month later, I saw my doctor again for a pregnancy test. I think she was more surprised than me. "didn't I 'just' put you on the pill?" It's weird, I was at work and my coworkers said I looked different and seemed mellow. I went to my calendar and counted 29 days
2.5 years later, I was only off bcp one month and conceived. Again words of my doc "didn't I tell you to be off bcp for 3 months before getting pregnant?" sorry, I tried.

IMHO - as long as you're in sync with your spouse everything's fine.
We waited 6 years after marriage because a) we just enjoyed our time together and didn't want to give it up just yet and b) our finances were a bit rocky. Since I'm an accountant in public practice my wife insisted I get my CPA license before we have kids. I got the notice that I passed the last part of the exam in August '99, my first was born nine months later in May '00
In some ways it's like buying a house (or any other big decision): if you wait 'till you're completely ready you never will be.
