I refuse to watch the news. I never saw an OJ trial. Once I saw the towers had fallen, I turned away from the news and grieved without the blaring. Now as we are on the brink of a changed world, again, I refuse to watch the news.
I don't like to be panicked and rather than news, many times I feel I am getting opinion rather than plain facts-- as if the journalist wants to be bigger than his/her story.
Right now I am just too stressed out to determine what is theatrics what is important.
What about you? Do you watch for hours? Does it leave you unsettled? Comforted?

I watch just enough to know what's happening, then turn it off. All they do is repeat the same stuff over and over and over and over...

Most of my world/national news comes from the internet and radio. I only read the local section of the paper (and the comics).
Sometimes I feel detached from the world, but I think with that comes a certain inner peace. All I can do is act locally and cast a vote at election time.

I'll watch it in a bits andpieces to know what's going on. But I am never glued to the TV/internet news or newspaper. It's too depressing, and certain things out of my control tick me off - so what's the point of getting all worked up over something I cannot control?

News Junky. I watch Fox News every opportunity I get. I have about 10 newsites and political sites bookmarked. I make it my business to know everything that is going on.

Are you sure you're not my roommate in disguise??
I watch as much as I can tolerate, normally only Fox News, and then I'm outta there. I agree with PH about the inner peace thing.

Most network news is totally sensationalized and irresponsible. I don't want my kids watching that so it's almost never on. I get my news all day on the internet and radio and newspapers (it's my job) so I don't have to do it at night.
I agree with Kristin. It's mighty unsettling and upsetting.

My job requires that I read about 4 newspapers a day, plus a daily clip service--but I am reading for state political/goverment news. For national news I listen to NPR, CNN and must confess to being a CNBC junkie. I avoid the networks, other than CNN.

I don't get the newspaper, I don't watch network news, I occasionally hear news on the radio, but essentially I don't seek out the news. My internet start page is CNN, so I look at the headlines, especially right now. I don't read a lot of the reports, just the headlines. That's bad enough.

World wide news- Don't watch at all. If something is going on that I should know about everyone will be talking about it.
Local news- I watch the weather report or sports, the rest is just death and murder night after night. Who really wants to hear about that sh!t everyday?

i live under a self-imposed news black out. i choose to be clueless, not out of ignorance but out of necessity.
this is me after 5 minutes of CNN
this is me after 5 minutes of Paula Zahn
those are not good emotions for me so i choose cluelessness.
edited to say all the news i need to read is RIGHT HERE anyway.
