Posted: 01/05/06 - 14:30 Post subject: Pizza stone users, a question!
I can't seem to find the papers that came with my Pampered Chef pizza stone, but I recall seeing that these aren't supposed to be immersed in water. How then do you clean them if there's anything on them other than flour dust? My pizza bubbled over a bit the other night and there's cheese stuck on it now--how the heck do it get it clean without soaking it, or am I mistaken about that?
HELP!!!

water
I run water over mine and scrape it off and use the rough side of the sponge.
I think it just means not to leave it soaking in water, and to try to avoid soap if possible.
Good luck.

We just use a wet wash cloth...sometimes we run it under the water...
I thought you were just not supposed to used soap, cause soap will get stuck in the stone.

Stand it in the sink and run water over it while using the scraper thingy you got with it. Pat it dry with a paper towel.

soap can mess up the flavoring, but I use it sometimes in small amounts if there is some pretty bad stickage.....

basically, every time you use it, some of the flavor from the food absorbs into the stone, and transfers into the nex tthing you bake.... and vice versa.
The flavoring is the best.
I make cookies and biscuits on mine a lot.

Corn meal, dust the stone with a little of this and you will have no problems.

Thanks, all! I think you're right...it was no soap, not no water. DUH....
Jenny, good suggestion, I never thought to make cookies with it....but don't they stick?
RB, I like this idea for pizza, I will have to try that next time.
