This was a tune up race for Philly in November. I got up early to drive down and it was 74 and 91% humidity with a chance of T-storms. This is my second ˝. The first was RW ˝ in April. Met Linda (another Posse member) pre-race and we lined up together; but, did not see her again for about 1.5 hours. The humidity was oppressive. You could hear people running next to you, squish, squish, squish and it wasn’t even raining. We also could not catch a breeze until mile 8 and a small one at that; but, it is better then the 25 mph winds they were predicting. There were plenty of aid stations about every 2 miles.
I kept a steady pace through the whole race. Usually before and aid station I could feel myself slowing down some from the heat. Took 2-3 glasses of water/Gatorade and picked up the pace again. I wore a hat for the expected rain but between mile 5-6 the heat was getting to me so I carried it and immediately felt a little cooler. I spotted Linda at mile 10 and everyone seemed to pick up the pace just a little. Finish 2:07:54 watch time, a PR by 19 seconds.
Taking the weather into account, I feel good about my current progress and my goal of 4 hours for Philly.

If you wanted to train for the humidity, I'm sure either Flarunner or I could find a space for you at our homes. It's always super humid down here. Saturday's long run was at 100% humidity.
Good job on the race!

Bob, Gotta love PRs!! Way to go despite the elements. Just think of the condition you're in, on a perfect day, you'd have smashed the old PR. November is gonna be great for you!
