alone and standing for #1: door open and I may not flush until there are a few gallons of it in there. no sense wasting water. |
But then you have to clean your bowl more often, don't you? If there's anything I hate it's cleaning the BOWLS. Especially since my plumber cordially asked me to stop using those bleach drop-in-the-tank things... he said the bleach eats anything rubber (gaskets, etc.) and that's why my toilet was leaking. So now I have to clean the damned things more often. I'd rather have 10 kids than clean toilets. |
You know, even though we flush like the dickens around here (5 people = lottsa pottying) the bowls STILL need cleaned every 3 days. No lie. I hate it. I'd rather parade nekkid down main street than clean toilets. |
We don't flush every time here because we're on a septic system. I put a spoonful of bleach in the bowl every night at bedtime and it keeps the bowl fresh.
Edited to add: my bathroom door can be seen from the back door, which are French doors which basically means anyone standing at the back door can see you doing your business.
That said, the kids when they're young don't tend to shut the door (it's a pocket door and kind of tricky for small hands) and just the other day I almost had a tinkle with the door open before I realized it. They're a bad influence on me!

Curious minds, read:nosy, bored minds want to know.... |
I don't even close it when I'm not home alone, because generally it's just me and my son and he'll wait for that particular time to ask me to explain nuclear fision, anyway. |

Ian and Joshua really need to meet one day!

Bleach is BAD BAD BAD for your toilet!!!!!!!
It eats the plastic, pits the porcelain, AND will eat the wooden seat (most toilets come standard with a painted wooden seat). When the porcelain starts to pit, it will permanently stain your toilet.
As to the door closed when I'm alone, no it's open. It's usually open when anyone's home. I've become even less modest since having a baby and that's saying something.
