And the Giants' Jason Schmidt had a one-hitter against the Cubs. The one hit was an infield number that could have been called either safe or out. He also only walked one. All this seven months after elbow surgery.
Even more to his credit, Schmidt didn't mind his effort being overshadowed by Johnson's perfect game. A couple of good performances, on and off the field, last night.

Any guy that can pick off a bird in mid-flight with a fast ball must be great.

And i was flipping through the channels and didn't stop because i didn't feel like watching the Braves...not knowing what was going on.
Mike Hampton went the complete game as well in a losing effort.
Just amazing. Only 17 perfect games ever.

That was cool.
Only thing more surprising to me, is as dominating as he is, he hadn't done it before.
I know they are extremely rare, but he just looks unhittable.

Incredible feat, indeed!
As an aside, a CSUF pitcher (name is Kirk Saarloos, got drafted, keep an eye out for him!) pitched a no-hitter, near-perfect game two seasons ago. It was an amazingly exciting game, and we were holding our breath through the ninth inning!
