For Georgia runners wanting to be seeded runners in this year's 2006 Peachtree Road Race the Charles Harris 10k Leukemia race is this Saturday starting at Tucker High School (my neighborhood ). The course is fast and slightly downhill to help you get that qualification time (<50 minutes).

You can park your car near the finish at the North Dekalb Mall and take the busses back to the start or park at the high school and run, run/walk, or walk back to Tucker after the race making your day a 12.4 mile event. If you decide to leave your car at THS, just be aware that on the way back those nice slightly downhill inclines are nice up hill inclines. I'll be doing a very slow run back to THS if anyone wants to join along.

You can pick up your race number at Fleet Feet Duluth or Sandy Springs as well as Phidippides at Ansley. You may also register at active.com but will have to pay a 15% fee for the privilege.

Update: You may still register Saturday morning from 6:00am to 7:45am (start time) at Tucker High School. Fee is $25.00. If you are running the roundtrip from THS don't forget water is on your own for the 6.2 run/walk/jog back. I've never seen a shortage of bottled water at the finish line to grab on the way back but you never know.

My best friend has run 20 plus Peachtrees with me and then sent an old stamp on the letter with his application. They returned it as postage due $.02 with RACE CLOSED written on the envelope.

Can anyone help?

If postage was due, how did they write RACE CLOSED on the envelope? Does the PO intervene?

They refused to accept the letter from the P.O. or carrier and simply wrote "race closed" on the letter before handing it back.

At any rate I'm using my PRR #.

I didn't know that you could still get seeded for this year's race? I thought you had to send proof of time with your application to be seeded?

Not that I would have a chance in hell of a sub 50:00 anyway Razz Wink

When I originally posted this thread the applications had not gone out so at that time you could still "qualify" for a time group 1A or 1B. You do have to send it documentation with your application to be seeded. Registration is closed and with the possibe exception of invited elite runners seeding for PRR 2006 is not open.

HOWEVER, for the 2007 Peachtree, you can use time of any certified 10k race between now and until the 2007 apps come out.
