so, I'm sitting here in my PE office...bored to death.
I did meet with one set of parents I met on the way to get some coffee.
This is gonna be a long day...speaking of guilty pleasures...I just turned Dawson's Creek on...
If I get through the entire episode with out interruption, I might run home and get a DVD to watch.

Well, its just that, as a "specialty" teacher....the parents don't want to see me unless there is a problem. They meet with the classroom teachers, and I have given each student a complete checklist on the skills covered this quarter, and how they perform on each of them. They already know how their kid is doing in PE.
However, if they do need to talk to me, it is usually bad. So, I get to sit here, bored, until someone comes to bish about something...It's really not that fun.

My son wants to use those little scooter boards. Why don't you let him use those little scooter boards?

at least here in elementary school, I do get to see some parents because the kids drag them in here to see me. like coach, I don't see too many, but I get to see a few who tell me how much their kid loves music.

We will, but not until basketball season is over. We can't be marking up the floor until basketball is done.

Just wonderin' about parents meeting with the PE teacher.. do you have many overweight kids? If it's true that we have an "epidemic" of fluffy kidlets, I'd think the PE teacher would be someone parents should be talking to, no?

I've noticed an epidemic of stupid kids, but the parents don't seem to want to talk to us about that.

I noticed an epidemic of stupid parents, but they were all in denial of being ones.

Overwieght kids parents are usually, not always, but usually, are the one who complain the most.
Their kid can't do this or that because of their weight. It's not fair to grade them based on how well they do things, it should be on whether they try (they have no idea how their kids try, try to get out of things)
That being said, we don't have a problem with overweight kids. We have some, but probably not too many compared to most of the nation. Most of the kids here are farm kids, and fairly active.
