And this on Ash Wednesday too. Shame, shame |
Ya know....I hate gettin beat up for trying to come up with a way to keep people who are offended by some content from having to look at it...yet preserve a little latitude for discourse....
Oh...and you have some sort of dirt spot on your forhead...here's a cleanex...

Actually, Ranger, I think the idea is a good one.
I've been kicking around the idea of a wimmins-only forum so wimmins could go ask personal/private questions they might not feel comfortable asking someone face to face.
Obviously, I've kept that to myself for various reasons (workability, leaving men out might be frowned on, etc)
But I like your idea.

I've been hearing that all morning.
I'm just kidding, I think the idea is a good one, much like the On Topic forum was a good place for those sorts of discussions. There's much less friction in the HO since that forum started. I've often thought it a shame that CR couldn't do the same thing.
The only objection I'd have is that once you start splinter group forums, you have to have them for everything and that probably starts to waste server space, no? I agree, there's a time and place for off color humor, God knows I'm involved in it enough.....but perhaps we can contain that to certain threads, rather than having it spill into all of them? This way people who are offended by this stuff can just skip that thread, knowing that if they open it they're gonna find something that may not want to read.
Can we as a group agree to keep it contained, so to speak, and not feel the need to put it into every thread out there? What does everyone think about that? Including the people who are offended by it....I'd like to see if you think that would make everyone happy??

I thought the whole problem with innuendo was that normal threads were dissolving into nothing more than jello wrestling, if you know what I mean.
So starting a forum for innuendo would remedy this because people would get the innuendo out of their systems in that forum? I don't see that helping much.

I think it has toned down since PH asked us to though.

Hey G, no beatin' from this quarter! The idea is a good one. I don't know if it's feasible but still, it's a good one. Those venturing in would have been warned and would have no right to complain. Of course, that's not to say that they wouldn't drop in and then complain.
And I don't want to bring up the porn aspect because I understand your purpose but there are people who'll pay money for porn and then complain that it's vulgar. No, wait! Maybe it's that people won't buy porn but don't want you to buy it, either. Yeah, that's it.
Good idea. Hope it can fly. If not? A double-secret society!
