I last ran this race 2 years ago. (out of town in Baton Rouge last year)
Boy did I feel good today! I ran a smart race up through mile 10. I was at 80 minutes at that point so I decided to go for broke and I was able to kick it in. Even with the warm temperatures I felt great and ran great, I feel ready for the marathon. Plus my parents, Chris, Kaylee and jason were able to see me on the course and they took some pictures.
(those will be available next week some time).
At the finish I caught up with one guy that usually beats me, so for the last 1.5 miles we traded off with who was leading who. As we made the final turns he was in the lead but I picked it up and gave him a heads up that I was coming in on his inside so he wouldn't cut me off and out-kicked him to the finish. Unfortunately since it took longer for him to cross the start mat than me he gets credit for finishing in front of me. I was just happy that I was able to catch him at all.
After drinking one water and one gatorade I wandered off, found the beer and had 5 of those while talking to the guys I run with. Then it was head home to eat and watch football, so overall it was a great day.
