So next week I should be getting my orthotics. Do I need to buy neutral shoes now that the orthotics will be handling my mechanical deficiencies? Or should I still stick with motion control shoes? Can I get something a little cushier now?

Depends.
How much you really pronate.
How hard/stiff the orthotic devices are.

You might want to go to a running speciality store and "try out" some different types of shoes. Take your orthotics, put them in the shoes, and run up and down the sidewalk/aisle with them. See which ones feel the best, and which ones the helpful, knowledgeable sales person think look the best.
Of course, you don't have to buy them at said store, but it will give you an idea of what you can wear.

Oh, and if you feel guilty about doing this. It happens all the time.

i just got my new orthotics and have them stuffed in my Mizunos even tho i am sidelined. they feel absolutely wonderful and i have a hard time wearing other shoes now.

can't answer your Confused: PH--my foot is opposite yours. i've always worn a neutral shoe. the orthos are great though.

can't wait to see how they actually feel running
