Posted: 08/20/04 - 12:21 Post subject: Organizing a race
There are so few races in my area and it seems my only hope for more is to organize them myself. Where do I start? I mean, what is the first thing to be done? I have a route (5k) that would be perfect for a race but no clue how I'd shut down traffic or who'd approve the race.
I know someone has organized a race before but can't remember who. I think it would be fantastic to eventually have it every month but for now I'd like to have this one organized.

And as I raced in both of them, I can vouch they did terrific jobs. Throw a PM or e-mail their way.

Talk about a niche market.

I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum. Oopsie!
Anyway, thanks for the input. I have my work cut out for me but I think I can get this off the ground. No doubt I'll have a million questions along the way.
