had her Father pass away this weekend. It was all pretty sudden and tragic.

They found out he had a brain tumor, like a week and a half ago, he had a biopsy (sp?) done on Wednesday, and had a stroke while they were doing it. He was then flown to Rochester. Friday, they were removing the tumor, and he had a stroke while they were doing the procedure.

He was pretty much brain dead after that, and they unplugged him Saturday afternoon, he passed away early in the evening.

I feel so bad for this girl. She's just a Freshman, oldest of 3 kids. It's been hard on the whole team. We live in a small community, and everyone knows everybody, and although I didn't know him very well (basically just who he was) he seemed like such a nice person.

Thoughts and prayers for this family, please.
Thanks.
Ms. Jenn

Sad

Advice from the best friend of a girl who lost her father at a young age (and had two younger siblings), the best thing you can do is be a surrogate Dad when she needs one. Her mom is going to be preoccupied for quite a while trying to recover from the grief while trying to run the family, especially raising the younger children on her own. She could use a "Dad" in the absence of Mom for a while and without her dad.

My dad stepped in with my best friend and she still thanks him for that.

That really stinks, Coach. There is no "good" age to lose a parent, but at that phase of your life it's really difficult. So many other things changing in your life......Jenn's advice is good. I hope the family has a strong support network.

Prayers going up for them all.....Sad

It is very sad, indeed.

She also has two first cousins on the team. So that's three players directly related to him, and you know classmates and teammates are close.

The Wake is Wednesday, the funeral is Thursday.

And we have a game tomorrow. UGH.

Practice tonight is going to be optional. For those who want to play to "escape" reality, we'll be there. For those who don't want to think about BB right now, they can go.

At least you guys are like family--in a big school, in a big town, her grief and misery would possibly be lost in the crowd.

I'm glad you're sensitive to what your girls might be going through.

You are a good man.
