Actually I think it failed on it’s own. 42 Sec isn’t enough time to react.

Now suppose we did do it. Who would know? That is who has the ability to monitor a missile in flight. I’m guessing Russia might, maybe China?

All countries in the initial stages of launching missiles, whether for weapons or space exploration, have plenty of mishaps like the North Koreans did. I think, but I'm not sure on this, that in The Right Stuff there's a filmed sequence of American rockets that fail to get off the pad at all, or blow up, etc., seconds within launch.

I think it failed on it's own. I wonder if a few military and science types were taken outside and shot. Kim needed that intercontinental missile to pass testing to force concessions from the US, now he has lost face...even worse, has egg on it. Not something a militant dictator suffers well.

My only concern is that he will find a way to blame the US for the missile failure...laser or something else as unlikely, and start a whole new program of nuke weapons construction to combat the evil U.S.

this is more a manufactureing and Q/A issue. Seems to me they were given the technology by the Clinton's or was that the nuke power technology and the clintons gave the missle technology to the Chineese ( who would have then given it to the Koreans)

Obviously Clinton didn't give them the technology. Otherwise the missle would have worked. More likely that dufus in the White House gave them a missle in an attempt to distract his inability to do his job.

this is a ridiculous statement. If for a minute one believes that Pres. Bush gave that fool Kim a missle, better check the padding on the walls on the room.

Just trying to keep it on topic in replying to wtr's statement as to whether the weapon failed on its own since he felt compelled to bring Clinton's name into the discussion.

If I remember correctly, China gave the North Koreans their missile technology. Lets not forget Pakistan's role in selling nuke parts and technology. Plenty of other places to get missile parts like Iraq under Saddam or Lybia under Qadaffy. Take your choice. If Clinton had somehow sold missiles to North Korea I'm certain the "loyal oppositiopn" would have had a field day.
