During my ride today, one of my gears kept changing on its own. When i switch gears, it's fine, but that one gear has a mind of its own. Why would it do that?

One of the best investments I've probably ever made for my bike is one of these :: http://www.nashbar.com/profile_moreimages.cfm?category=79&subcategory=1102&sku=1739&brand=

Once a week I clean the chain with it and all is well with my bike.
