I ran the 5K and Dan ran the half.
Well, not much to say other than it was a flat, fast course, the weather was great, and I had a disappointing race. I think, though, there wasn't anyway I was going to run this race faster yesterday as I was tired the whole way and my race nerves never subsided. 24:15. Sigh...
I got done with my race and was waiting for Danny to finish his. I was a little worried about him because he hasn't trained for a half and has only been running a day or two a week. His longest run has been 10 miles a week or two ago which went ok. Anyway, he ends up finding me out of all those people and I ask him how he does. 1:40! I was and then really happy for him...but also He asked me how mine went, but knew from my face that it didn't go well at all and felt pretty bad for me, squeezed my shoulders and said: you know you can do better than that, so you had a bad day. And then that awful song began to play in my mind: so you had a bad day.
We bummed around Indie the rest of the day and when his legs began cramping up I took us home.

Sorry your disappointed in yourself but weren't you nursing an injury not too long ago? It's early in the season and you're gonna get better I just know it. 1:40 is right. Most excellent job for him!

Sometimes you can learn something from a bad race and apply it in the future. Sorry to hear that yours sounds like one where you can't.
Write it off, forget about it ASAP. You're good enough to come back the next time. And you will.
(this was in Indy, no?)

sorry you're disappointed with your time shelly, but use this as your "baseline" for the season. sounds like a good weather day and nice course, how many runners? i'm really glad you got out there and did so in a decent time considering your recent injury concerns.
congrats on your first race of the season and here's to lots of PRs for you this summer

Sue is right, now you've got a baseline from which to work. You'll get better as the season progresses. Congrats to the both of you for getting out there.
