What a terrible thing. Just terrible. I couldn't even imagine the pain and suffering this family must be going through right now. And why does it seem that these types of drunk driving accidents are only increasing nowadays?! Evil or Very Mad

So sorry to hear about this, John. Kudos to Fred for showing the support that he has.

I am so sorry to hear about that. What a senseless waste of a young life. I don't understand why people do this.

Update from the wife :: Seems that my son was there when they took him off of life-support. It's got to be tough to watch one of your buddies die like that. She said they were up laaaate last night talking and crying about it.

PH, That is soo tough for your son. On some level, being there will give him more understanding. As time goes by he'll be glad he was.

He's sure got a great Dad to lean on. Stressful for you too, hang in there buddy.

That is awful seeing such youth die in a horrible way. Good for your son sticking by his friend.

Link to the article that just made the paper today :: http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/metro/gwinnett/0203/11wreck.html

I drove by the accident last night. Maybe it's a Southern thing, but loved ones will frequently have a little memorial set up at the site of a deadly accident. When I went by last night, there were tons of ballons and stuff animals there and people stopped and openly expressing greif.

The article was pretty generic. Did not say a lot about him. I guess more will come out later.

What a senseless, horrible tragedy. Difficult for you son, difficult for everyone connected by the slimmest tangent.

May all find peace as they deal with this.

What a very sad story. I'm so sorry. I've actually done a lot of research on the dynamics of drunk driving and what I've learned is that the recidivism rate is pretty high. Some of it has to do with the fact that we're a driving society, and we don't put taverns where we could all walk to them. Some of it is that a lot of us just don't want to take responsibility for ourselves.

That poor family.

How come when I went to the link it sent to me to some sex site?

HUH? I click on them both and they both came up to articles in the local, well-established, family-oriented local newspapers. Anyone else having this problem?
