This weekend I was reading an article about how it was good to go into debt and that if you paid off your house, it just showed you managed your money poorly. (WTH??? )

Anyhow, I am just a little above stuffing my money in my mattress, so I didn't agree with the article.

Then I got to thinking--although I have no problems with people wearing shorts to church--I can't bring myself to do it. It's Cali and they look cool and it's the fashion and it's a very casual church. I still can't do it.

How are you old fashioned?

A couple of weeks ago at church, I leaned over to the lady sitting next to me and mention how 90% of the boys in the youth group could use a good hair cut.

If I am out of debt, with my car and house (if I owned one) paid off, I would be so happy that I managed my money well and that I can either save a stupid amount of money or buy something crazy without going into debt or taking a looong vacation or just not having to worry about being short on money. I couldn't imagine a better feeling.

Shorts in church doesn't seem right to me. Khaki pants okay, shorts aren't for me.

The other day we had a dept meeting. Room was full, two ladies came in late no more seats. I got up, smacked my intern in the head to get his attention and got him up so they could have seats.

They looked at us like we were from Mars (but took the seats).

Interesting. They are doing a series of sermons at our church on 'running the race.' They talked me and a triathelte to help set up and do a fun run for the culmination of it. They aren't just encouraging shorts that Sunday - they want people showing up in their running gear.

Attempts by yours truly to specify that to wearing clean gear were put to the side. Razz

Well, let's look at the geezermeter:

NO, and I mean NO credit card debt. (ZERO, ZILCH, NADA)

Mortgage is almost paid off - four years or so to go...

Daughter's college loans total about $ 3,000 after 2 years.

We do have three car payments. The kids are subsidizing two of them.

I like my hair short as in a military style cut.

I do wear shorts and sandals to church (like a lot of others at my church). Lets be honest here not gym or running shorts but "dressy" Dockers style shorts.

My daughter has two tattoos neither of which is plainly visible or in bad taste. She also has a very tiny nose stud.

Put me down as a partial geezer.

Next week we're supposed to wear our favorite football jerseys and football gear.

It's about "being a team" for Christ. You can't win the game alone.

I need to find a favorite team. Quick.

I won't use my birthplace to advantage and tell you to go with the Packers.

But if you wear a Chicago Bears jersey, I. Will. Find. You. Razz

Are those baseball?

I'm kinda scared to use any Cali teams because here they have gang significance. If you wear Raiders clothing into the wrong part of town you can get gunned down. Same with the 49ers.

Do any of the monasteries around here have a team I can pick???
