Posted: 10/27/04 - 09:10 Post subject: Okay, so I'm getting a roommate.
My girlfriend Angie is moving in. This has been decided for a while, but now we're starting to get things ready. We'll mostly be keeping her furniture, something about that whole 'bachelor' decorating sense of mine doesn't jive with her.
The date will be the weekend of Nov 6-7. She'll be able to work and stay at a furnished apt (free of charge, BTW) until the third week of Nov. Then she'll have some $$ saved up to take a couple of weeks off and job hunt up here (even though she's been doing that already).
I'm excited, but also a little nervous. This is a big step. I'm also a little bummed that I'll be getting rid of most of my stuff. I can at least get $$ for my This End UP living room set and another coffee/end table set I have. My stuff wasn't exactly nice, but it was at least mine and I had collected it from family members, etc. through the years. And I know I would've gotten rid of it anyway at some point. </end pathetic rant>
We've been joking that as soon as she moves in I'll have an excuse to start training for Ironman.
Wish me luck.

Go ahead and get used to the idea of a house in the burbs with 2.4 kids and a white picket fence.

I've had two friends just make this leap this month. I have no words of advice, the idea of living with a b-o-y and not having my own space makes me sort of hyperventilate, but good luck!!
PS it can't be all bad if an ironman is in your future

I've done this before, but I was too young. Learned that lesson.
Good luck to you though! I think you're a bit older than me so it's prolly a little different.

I think that's the hardest part when you move in with someone, is whose stuff do you keep.....it's an identity thing, for sure, and I know a lot of people who feel funny about it. Like you said, it doesn't matter whose stuff is nicer necessarily, it was "mine" or "hers" and now it's gone. Hope the rest of it works out for ya though.

I was on my way there til we realized what a foolish idea that would have been. Now we're just best friends.
