The President decides Iran’s nukes gotta stop and stop now. The UN is in its perpetual rectal, cranial inversion.
So he decides to do what the US military does best. Stand up military battle. Cruise missile strikes / air strikes to cripple the Iranian military and to flatten nukler targets. Followed by a brief ground campaing campaign to take the nukler site and ensure they’re destroyed. Then just with draw. No cleaning up the mess, no reconstruction just leave. Maybe 90 days front to back on the whole deal.
Maybe leave a little warning that if we see nukes going up again we’re coming back
Ok General von Mechstein what say ewe? Miss Go?

We're talking hats?
I didn't read in your hypothetical that there was some credible evidence of an impact on the United States. Until that happens, it's a violation of international law to go looking for a fight.

I like how you're able to avoid the last question I posed in the Foley thread and went on to a new subject.
+++++++++++++++
Channeling Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld again ?
No mess ?
What about every Arab/Muslim on the planet who would decide right then and there we are the Great Satan ? What about the fact every American in any foreign country would be a certain target ? Despite your best incomprehension, the US still has to operate in the world.
How about an oil shortage brought on by pick one : No Iranian oil on the world market; or OPEC Saying we won't sell to you. Maybe ARgentina would just go along with an embargo too. We have enough of our own gas you say ? We import 60% of our oil I don't think that's enough. But then you're willing to pay $ 5.00 a gallon right ?
No rebuild ? Thats the original OIF plan: Let the Iraqis do their own rebuilding, and pay for it with their oil revenues. We'll be ble to leave a couple of months later.
What would the US look like to the rest of the world ? I know you're going to say "we don't care what they think". But you have to live in a real world The real world will condemm.
Von Machenstein would never think of such a hare brained, ill conceived plan. In fact if you had proposed it to him, you'd be spending the rest of your military career in a storage depot in deep Schwartzwald.

More so, that kind of action would set a precedent for every other country to stage a pre-emptive strike - nuclear, chemical, what have you - against any other country. Pakistan against India. North Korea against South Korea (or Japan).
China against the U.S.
Very, and I mean very, few countries could justify their move where some people would actually understand (Israel springs first to mind). But for the most part, they'll say, "Hey. America went into Iran to protect its own interests? Why can't we?"
