People who don't wear seatbelts are just plain dumb.

****

People who don't strap their kids into seatbelts/seats should be shot in the head till they're dead. Irresponsebility at it's worste.

****

Any child severely overweight before the age of 13 has a very difficult life ahead of them if they ever decide to lose weight. It's not their fault, it's the irresponsibility of the parents.

****

60% of americans are over weight. I think i want to puke.

****

I'm overweight still, even though i trained for and completed a half ironman. I think i want to puke.

****

I was severely overweight by the age of 13.

****

My perception of myself changes hourly. Everytime i see myself in the mirror i have a different opinion, sometimes good, sometimes bad. I'm still insecure about how i look without a shirt on.

****

I wear a shirt all the way to my lap lane, i take off my shrit and jump in real quick. Then i let my swimming form and speed do all the talking. When i get out of the pool, i make sure most everyone is swimming and the lifeguarsd are looking the other way, i jump out real quick and put my shirt back on. I feel pathetic.

****

Any vehicle may tail gate with some danger involved. Any vehicle over 2 tons shouldn't tail gate. I saw an 18 wheeler nearly run over a pick up truck he was tail gating beause the pickup had to slow down suddenly.

****

Any vehicle that has more then 4 children in it (especially un buckled) is an extreme road hazard. There should be a ticket for having too many kids in a vehicle. Too much distraction.

****

Monks are cool

****

People who giggle while they talk need to be shot. People who take every third word they say and raise their voice (and this one TIME at band CAMP...) need to be shot. I work with a girl who does both these things. It's highly distracting.

****

I wish i wasnt' insecure. Insecure people suck.

****

I've been jerkin my gherkin twice a day for months, it doesn't really interfere with my life so i'm not sure whether to classify it as a problem yet.

****

I turn 24 in exactly 348 hours

****

I think i'm going through post race blues. I don't feel like training, writing in my journal, or eating right. Probably why i feel so fat and ugly.

his honesty is, um, refreshing.

welcome to the "put your towel as close to the freekin' pool without it getting drenched so that you can skulk outta the pool and into the damn towel without anyone getting a glimpse of your partially clad, not cutting the mustard - almost but not quite body" club. i've been there for 35 years. yes, insecurity stinks. or sucks i guess.

i think he needs to "journal" more. Wink

I drive with as many as 6. Under threat of dire bodily harm they are quiet as mice. Oh, and I keep lots of books in the van.

Happy friggin birthday!!!! ( a day or more +early)! birfday cheers

If there was a gherkin jerkin smilie I would add it.

If it makes you feel any better, it took me until last year to get over being a total insecure mess (and I am still insecure in certain situations).

What are you doing for your birthday?

From the pictures you posted, I would never classify you as overweight. I thought you looked quite studly!

Probably seeing a movie, then eating, then going to bed. I planned on going downtown and getting totally wasted with some 'friends' of mine, bu ti just dont' see the point.

Thanks for the compliments on the pics, but i'm also wearing a skin tight suit which holds in my fat. I took a pic of me without my shirt on after the race and will post it so you can see what i'm takling about. I"ma ttempting to use it as a 'before ironman' pic. hopefully i'll actually lose weight with all the training i'll have to do for the IM.

Weight is not a goal of mine, it's a beneficial side effect of training, but somedays i'd REALLY like to ahve sex, and other days i REALLY want to look in the mirror and say, 'Damn, yer a stud and you worked your ass off to get here"

Instead i say, "Damn you worked your ass off to get here...and you don't loko any differetn. F&*k"

You got all gibberishy when you trailed off, jedster!

You seem to pretty critical of yerself. Take a step back and remember back when you were REALLY overweight/inactive and look at where you are today, brotha. It's a long race and you've only just begun....

I guess it comes down to this:

I feel like a triathlete...i want to LOOK like one now. Is that too much to ask?

tburt,
If you can complete a half IM then you are a better athlete than I am. I can only dream of being able to swim and bike that much! Great job and just keep on working on the weight thing. As it comes down I am sure your training will also.

I assume you are cross-training with weights also? That might help with some of the weight loss.

What does a triathlete look like? I think you look like a triathlete. You managed to swim 1.2 miles, bike 56 and run 13.1, that looks like something a triathlete would do.
