Departure time from Madison: 9:37AM CST, May 26
Arrival time at home: 3:15AM EST, May 27

Y'all can do the math, I'm going to bed. I should be conscious again by Friday and will post my weekend's recap.

One thing this trip has taught me, there is absolutely NOTHING I don't have the strength to handle anymore. And I do mean NOTHING.

zzzzzzzzzzzz.......

Not as much as she misses me! Wink

Genie, I am so glad you made the trip despite the suck-o-riffic traveling. We wouldn't have had nearly the time we did without you.

JJ, you ran with Bart???? Too cool! I did get to say hello after the race, we've met a couple times before since I don't live far from the Lehigh Valley. He's a really nice guy, regardless of what your views are on his infamous 800's. Wink

Shelf, my pics are of the non-techno variety. I'm going to try and do 1-hour photo this afternoon so hopefully I can get them up tonight or tomorrow. I need some new ones for the office too!!

OK, I'm ready now....bring on the marathon training!!! Wink
Seriously, those last couple hours after midnight, I thought I was gonna die. I really didn't want to stop overnight because I've got school tonight and I would have just gotten home in time to leave and been all disoriented and stuff, no time to unwind from the trip, so I decided to push through. My roomie called me around 1 and we talked for about 45 minutes, which helped a lot. He was up with a really bad toothache Sad so he couldn't sleep either.

It was SO incredibly awesome to meet you guys this weekend, and to see cjay, CB and mega again!! It definitely made the stress of the trip worth it, but I am doubting I am going to be doing any more road trips for a while (other than perhaps to see the Western Posse sometime over the summer--5.5 hours as compared to this will be a drive around the block!) I said to Matt when he called the last time, I honestly didn't think the distance was this long or I would have sucked it up and flown. A female traveling alone in the middle of the night is probably not the smartest role to play. People at rest stops get decidedly more scary after midnight!!!

What I learned on my voyage to Madison:

- Yahoo didn't get its name for nothing---it was NOT 13 1/2 hours from here to Madison, nor was it 11 hours, 23 minutes from here to Chicago! burning mad
- Rest stops are icky x 100!!
- Brats, although containing absolutely NO nutritional value, are SUPAH TASTY, especially with sauerkraut cooked in beer!
- Wisconsin beer is really good (ALL of them Embarassed )
- Bears in captivity like to eat poop for amusement Shocked
- Riff Raffers have by far the cutest and most well-behaved kidlets on the planet! pink love
- Truck drivers on the East Coast are without a doubt the rudest, more aggressive and igmo pieces of poo in the country (apologies to any truck driving Riffers) burning mad Mad Shocked
- Madison is a beautiful city that I'd live in without hesitation. I am still seriously considering moving there to do my doctoral work. I think after this weekend, I hate Philly even more than I did (sorry, elkid). It's so CLEAN!!!!

[SIDEBAR]: RR, you were right about that drive through Western PA being hairy!! I did the worst part of it Friday in daylight so it wasn't bad at all. At night it is downright frightening! And those )($(#$&^#% trucker mofo's...oooohhhhh!!!!!! burning mad Many choice phrases were coined last night!! [/SIDEBAR]

Most of all, what I learned is that this bunch just ROCKS MY FACE OFF! What a wonderful bunch of genuine, fubby and just all around terrific people. I really am glad I made this trip and I can't wait to see you all again, as well as the rest of you that I haven't met yet. fubby

cry cry I miss her already too!!! Rando:

I think this was a little longer because I did the whole thing in one shot-Madison was a separate drive on Saturday so it broke things up a tiny bit. Friday was mainly long because of that 2 hour traffic backup right outside Chicago. Most of both drives was actually pretty relaxing, especially going out. I timed it well and hit little traffic, other than the Friday stuff. Chicago at rush hour is not a pretty place, but the beltway was the ticket going home. Smooth sailing all the way.

Ohioans, can you please ask your governor to build in a little more scenery along the highway?? Most boring drive I have ever done....ughhh.....although I thought of Kristin and LE as I passed signs for Columbus and Aurora. Rob, where are you again? I was thinking somewhere around Dayton but I couldn't remember.
