HA! Obviously your Frenchman buddies are modeling their cars after other things............. |
Ya know men just buy those things to make up for inadequacies in "other" areas....Oh wait....that's big pickup trucks....nevermind... |
So... if that logic follows, drivers of THESE cars... well, let's just say they don't stand too close to the urinal... |
Doubtful. Really REALLY small and all that.......they probably pee sitting down

Ah so I see they UNDER compensate. Or to them it IS a big car?
And what's wrong with sitting down?

Yep, they're all over Europe. There are far more little cars on the road there than big cars. They're easy to park (they fit nicely on the sidewalks too!) and fuel-efficient. There's an even smaller version out now as well, the driver sits in the front, and the passenger sits in the back. It is very narrow and very small. More like an enclosed scooter.
They wouldn't be dangerous to drive in the U.S. if more people drove small cars.

I believe smart car is a division of DaimlerChrysler (which includes the very safety conscious Mercedes Benz). And something about steel reinforcement (I started reading about it but car parts and maintenance make my eyes roll back in my head). I think I would be as safe in that as I would in at least my steel reinforced plastic Saturn.
What I can't figure out is how people have them in the US? I need to flag down the tiedyed smart car in my neighborhood....

Looking at the engineering specs, it looks like they designed a degree of safety into the body. No car that size is going to be as safe as riding in, say a Volvo, but better than on a motorcycle.
If in town speed limits stay at 15 to 25, and people use common sense (I know that's asking a lot), it would be a great around town and short commute car. Just keep it away from Radnor, those blue bloods might think its some sorta insect and call an exterminator.

At the risk of sounding a bit silly - this would be the perfect vehicle to tow behund a motor home (MH). Once you get to your destination, park the MH. use the Zap as your puddle jumper for local trips.
I'd personally love to have something like this for commuting to work...

Hey now wait a damn minute here! I have no inadequacies in "other" areas and I have a rather large pickup truck. The little tinker toy pictured there would probably fit into the bed.... |

No, but I think there is a hole in the floorboard for your feet so you can sort of give it a 'running start'.

Or maybe a long sawtoothed plastic strip you have to pull out of a hole in the top...

Nothing will help me parallel park. If I have to parallel park, I ain't parkin'.
I don't see that vehicle catching on here where brand and color are the differentiating factors for your truck.

I am glad that PA, doesn't require parallel parking as part of getting one's license. I'd still be trying

It was required in Oklahoma. I tried 3 times and still didn't do it right. He passed me if I promised to never parallel park. I promised.
