I think I am going to sue PH for creating this site and thus lowering my productivity level at work by providing such a powerful distraction.
I hear he's got a nice new rack that might be worth something.....

You'll be hearing from my attorney for the mental distress you've caused me by posting that link.

That is totally unreal. I was really thinking about volunteering to coach as Jason and Kaylee got alittle older but if I get faced with that kind of attitude why bother?

The main reasons I got out of coaching:
1. The pay scale breaks down to about $.52 an hour.
2. Most parents think their kids are the next Mark Spitz, Bob Hayes, Johnny Unitas, etc. And, of course, the kids are not.
3. The school administration has a tendency to buckle under a parent's ranting and doesn't back up the coach's decisions.
FB, be an enthusiastic and supportive dad. You don't want all the headaches.

Couldn't agree more. Sports is supossed to be fun for the kids. Parents need to stop reliving their youth through their children.

yeah, i think i'll file my papers today. my son is emotionally damaged from "riding the pine" in waaaaay tooo many soccer games last season.
this is so sad. really. GET YOUR OWN LIVES
no matter what - after 6 years of watching him play and not play--of sometimes bad coaching decisions, sometimes poor playing on his part--i have never and will never open my parental mouth to anyone in a coaching job when matters of the "game" are concerned.
only thing i have ever said to them "good game coach" if i wanna coach, i'll get my own clipboard. sheeeeeeesh.

So you had a job where you didn't have to pay any income taxes? Sweet!

that's the point - it was not a job - we were all volunteers
if the parent in question thinks he could have done better, than why isn't he coaching???

Problem parents are not a new thing in kids sports. I remember as a kid playing little league baseball, some parents in the stands hollaring at the coaches and the kids, and not words of encouragement either.
Lawsuits take it to a new level though. I attended a seminar put on by one of the Pirates coaches a few years back. Donnelly was his name. He suggested putting up sound proof booths for the parents to sit in when they attended their kids game, either that, or ban them altogether if they couldn't keep their derogatory remarks to themselves.
