Do what the doctor has ordered in your case.

It takes time and do fully recover from your surgery. That's crucial. It nearly killed me all three times after my c-sections.

Diva, you could easily lose a few lbs a week AND most likely still get the nutrients/calories you need for breastfeeding by doing the Southbeach thing for a while. Basically you just cut out all that crap you are eating and eat more of the healthier carbs and lean proteins. You CAN do it this time of year because the boyfriend and I are doing it (because in the few months we've been together, we've been eating like there is no tomorrow and not exercising enough to counteract the extra calories). It's just a matter of wanting it badly enough.

Think about it, and if you'd like to try it, talk to your OB/GYN and or Ped. to see if it is something you can pursue (I know lactating moms have different nutritional requirements, but I doubt any doc is going to tell you that the baby needs you to consume sugar, white flour, and potato chips & cookies).

I actually started the "diet" they gave me for gestational diabetes. I guess my biggest "issue" is that I can't really exercise so I feel like a total slug (which is why I gorged on chips, dip and soda in prior weeks). Once I am able to do some real exercise again I think I'll feel much better. Walking just doesn't do it for me. Sad
