I'm new here... hope I'm posting in the right spot.
Anyway... I just got Nike+ the other day to use with my Ipod Nano and it works great... if you haven't heard of it check it out here:
www.nikeplus.com
So the reason I'm posting about this is I'm wondering if anyone else here has it. If you do give me your Nike+ E-mail address and I'll invite you to a challenge.

Moved your thread--I figured reviews is a better place.
What is a challenge? (I don't own one) But I'd like to know more.

Ok well basically if you have an Ipod Nano and you buy this Nike+ kit then you have this chip that sits in your shoe and a small chip that plugs into your ipod and the chip in the shoe sends a signal to the ipod and once you calibrate the thing at a track it tells you how far and fast you're running...
If you want more info on it check out my blog:

I just did a post about it...
or check out
www.nikeplus.com
It's a pretty cool way to measure your distance and speed and stuff... it works great.

I use it, too. And it works great.
Biggest problem was accuracy in the beginning. Then I figured out that if I calibrated it according to instructions on a track - where I knew the precise distance, not just roughly, it worked better. I started the calibration right on the line, ran my usual speed, and stopped at EXACTLY 400 meters and stopped the calibration. Since then I have had much more accurate results.
If anybody wants to use the Nike+ system but doesn't want to buy the special Nike shoes I have a pretty simple little adaptor that works great with any shoe I'll be happy to send you. Just send me a private message.

Ya, the calibrating really helps.

So how is the Nike system any better than the Garmin 305? With it I didn't have to calibrate anything nor have any adapters on my shoes nor an ipod.
It seems to me the current Nike system is a bit cumbersome and has the opportunity to be off more so than the Garmin 305. It's a nice concept but appears to be more in the research stage.

Well for starters, you could run under a dense forest canopy, indoors, or even in tunnels. When a nuclear war breaks out and we're all living underground, Nike+ users will have the last laugh. But mostly the dense forest thing.

A. It's only $30... I'm going to guess that "Garmin 305" is more expensive than that.
B. I would not catagorized it as being in the "research stage", it works very well and is rarely off by more than a few meters.
C. The Nike website keeps track of all your miles, you get graphs of your runs (showing where you sped up and slowed down) and you can challenge people from halfway across the world in distance and speed challenges.
D. I wouldn't say that it's cumbersome either... an Ipod Nano is incredibly small and light weight and the sensor is about the size of 2 quarters stacked up on each other.
So maybe it's not as fancy or accurate as the best thing out there but it still works very good none the less.

$30? Heck, I'd almost give it a try for that. Does it require Ipod? Specifically Ipod?

Yes, it requires an Ipod Nano.

Do I have to buy the Nike shoes or can I use my Asics 2110s? Does it work to strap the device in the laces or how do people handle that?
Thanks.

Hey smc935, could I get one of those adapters you speak of? I just bough the Marware pouch for $10, but I heard it's innacurate.

I just saw a commercial the other day for the nike+ and thought it looked really awesome, something I could use. I was glad to hear that you can use it with other shoes because I dont wear nikes ( but almost gave them a try just to try this nike+ deal lol) but I am curious... does anyone know if it would work with moto. rokr phone with itunes. Or is it an excuse for me to buy an ipod nano. Also, for those of you who have used the adaptor, do you notice it at all?

You have to have the iPod nano. But if you really want to limit your investment you can get a refurbished one gig from Apple for $90...
