I use it every time I run. And I really like it. You have to buy an iPod Nano (starting around $150), plus the Nike+iPod sport kit for $29. The kit includes a transmitter that goes in the sole of the special Nike+ shoe and a tiny receiver that attaches to the bottom of your ipod.
It is great to easily push a button and have a voice tell you how far you've gone, your current pace, etc. It tracks you as you go then puts it online (nikeplus.com) to review later. It gives you a graph of your progess - how your speed went up or down, etc, as you won. It also tracks your personal bests, etc.
I found accuracy to be troubling at first. They say it is 90% accurate out of the box, but that means 10% inaccurate. I finally figured out that by going to a track and calibrating it (instructions on how to do that are included) at exactly 400 meters I pretty much solved the problem. It still isn't 100%, but pretty darn close.
If you want to use the kit with non-Nike shoes you can buy a cool little pouch that lets you put the transmitter that is supposed to go in the sole of the custom Nike+ shoe at the bottom of the laces of any shoe, your favorite brand.
I have one. Works great. You can check them out at www.runningis.com

I'm one of those weirdos that enjoys the sound of the wind in the leaves, the loons on the lake, the crunch of my feet on the gravel, the rush of the air into my lungs, the drips of a recent rain still hanging on the trees, the hello from a senior citizen grinning as I glide by and a hundred other sensory inputs I get when I go 'outside' to get away from the voices, the rings, the clangs and bangs people make indoors, but all an i-pod does is give a whole other set of voices, rings, clangs and bangs pre-recorded.

You've got a point... I like running with out my ipod sometimes too. I don't know though it's kind of fun to listen to music while your running, motivating and stuff.

I have the Nike sport kit too... got it a couple weeks ago and it's great. I can't really think of any cons except that it only works with an Ipod Nano which might be a problem for some people. Other than that it's a great way to track your distance and time and stuff. You can do challenges with people on the internet too. It's pretty cool.

Oh that's great. i was looking up on the challenges and stuff and that sounds fun and motivating to push harder. But like the others said listening to music and all I don't really like to do that. i like to hear whats going on in the natural ambience. But I like the idea of how it'll tell you approx. how far you went, times, miles, pace etc..

I've been pushing a baby jogger for 7 years (3 kids, thank you) but never listened to my ipod because I was afraid of not hearing the traffic. I found a great gadget that let's me listen to my music without earbuds. It's a mini speaker that attaches to the stroller handlebar. I just plug in my ipod when I feel like training with my music and don't need earbuds. I can hear my kids, too. It's called stroll-a-tune if anyone's interested.
