Hi everybody !

I just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I am 23 years old, married w/ no kids. As my name would suggest , I live in South Carolina. Razz

Growing up, I was relativley unactive because of severe childhood asthma. After about 18 my asthma got much easier to control. Over the last 18 months i have achieved many of the personal fitness goals that I had set for myself; including losing 50 lbs and become more active.

The two remaining goals I have are to become a decent runner and venture away from my elliptical machine, lol! And to lose 20 more pounds to get down to my ultimate goal weight.

I am very new to running and trying to stay motivated. I started off walking 2 miles. Then after a few weeks of doing that - I started walk/jog 2miles.

I am currently up to jogging 4 miles every other day. I wanna give up because I see such little results. It seems my thighs have bigger, which is definitely NOT the look I was going for Wink Somedays it is much harder than others.

So that's about it! Another Newbies jumping in the swing of things. Mr. Green

Welcome aboard. And don't give up. Just hang in there and let time work for you. Sounds to me like you have made some serious progress, going from 2 mile walk to a 4 mile run (it ain't jogging, regardless of the pace).

Welcome aboard!

Here's to losing that last 20 lbs. cheers

Entering a local 5K is a great way to get some motivation to get out there and really give it your all.

Hi SCgurl!

Don't give up! Look how far you have come! All of us have hit plateaus at one point or another. Pushing through those rough patches and keeping going is what makes you a runner. Cool

Oh - and your legs will build a lot of muscle, so they will get bigger - but muscle mass will raise your metabolism, helping you lose more weight. Soon they will be smaller, but they do always get bigger first. Just be patient. Wink

Yep, the larger thigh thing is quite frustrating, but I bet your thighs are all muscle by now. No flab there!

Congrats on your achievements!! You rock!!!

Welcome! Glad you found us. I want to echo what everyone else has said...don't give it up. You're most likely building muscle, and as everything else on you shrinks, some things may look better. (I'm jealous it's your thighs, for me it's my tummy)

4 miles every other day is great!

Welcome to our little part of the world! And listen to what everybody else has said. Especially that part about joining our fubby, little virtual event that's coming up in October. (Sign up is going on right now over in Riff Raff.) What a great motivator!

Sorry forgot to answer you Nolefan, I'm from Orangeburg, SC. Which is between Columbia and Charleston.
