Posted: 01/17/03 - 15:42 Post subject: New Year, New You, Biggest Scam Ever
Bull**it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unless you in a climate where the temps are pretty good year round
Ariz, CA, FL.
The biggest new year scam is the diet lose pounds before Summer.
Here at work there are a number of new year new diet women complaing about it being too cold and they can't seem to stay on their diet.
A few men too by the way.
I mentioned to them why not diet in May or June or July so you have the warm temps to be outside.
The answers I got was:
It'll be too late by then.
Its too hot.
We tend to have BBQ for the holidays.
Etc.
So its taken me a few years to figure out the weight loss places are scaming people with their post glutton ads knowing most people will fall off the wagon.

What, so it's cold, you have to eat like a pig? I don't ge the correllation. Besides, no one"has" to eat something just because it's being offered to them at a family function or because it's a certain season. Willpower is a good thing to have all year.
(Says the girl who can't gain any weight ever again because of this navel ring...)
Hey, there's an idea!!! Instant diet incentive. Pierce your navel, and then diet until you can actually see the piercing. (Yes, I am sick)

hehe. No , I still eat. It just hurts more to chew. If I don't eat I get cranky.
I want to eat SPICY again. I am dying for some blackened escolar. Or some super-hot wings. Or some szechuan tofu. Or pizza with hot peppers.
(I know, get over it. Life could be a lot worse.)

Since this is already diet related, has anyone else tried the new ALMOND Snickers bar? I don't eat candy very often--but Snickers are like the devil's candy. These new Snickers rock!
(I thought Gina might want to know, too!)

Interesting that treadmills, and such are all on sale too. In a few months most of them will be expensive clothes racks

I want to try those new Snickers! They have a snickers topped cookie out here; haven't tried it yet.
I am annoyed with the January people too sometimes; however, I guess at least they are trying and you have to start somewhere. Especially since I am trying to encourage someone else to get some exercise, I need to be supportive.

But Fat Trapper and Exercise in A Bottle will still be topping the sales charts at your local drugstore.....
Aire, I am not much of a Snickers fan, I prefer my peanut butter straight up!
K, why no spicy? Does it hurt the incisions??

Like you wouldn't believe. I am not a pain wimp. This is worse than anything I have ever done running/sports-related wise.
Also, the teeth are really sensitive down to the bone. I'm thinking of puttin a bottle of ambesol on them and eating the escolar and the wings anyway. I am going to need sustenance after I fight my way through the January crowd at the gym tonite..

Personally, I think all dietsf are scams. It's a lifestyle behaviour modification, not a quick fix in 6 to 8 weeks.
And, I happen to like all those tourists in the gym in January.

Oh, and one other thing. I normally run a fitness program at the beginning of the year called "New Year, New You" or sometimes "Commit to be Fit". And it's not a scam.

I think that kind of program can be a good thing; especially if it leads to a long-term life-style change. and everyone has to start and learn somewhere. After a while, you get 'spoiled' as a gym regular and get used to having your pick of machines (your own treadmill, your own stairmaster, etc).
