Anyone out there who's run this before, I think I'd heard the Chicago Hilton is a good choice, but I'd be interested in alternative choices as well. Any advice?

When I did Chicago, I didn't stay at the host hotel. And now for the life of me, I can't remember which hotel I DID stay in. I think it was on Wacker Street. Anyway, there are a ton of hotels in Chicago, so you can check out their rates online. Just make sure you stay at one near the Start/Finish line.

Chicago is pricey so shop around for something close to the start or finish if you don't like the host hotel. Ginchy lives around Chicago somewhere, so maybe PM her and see what her recommendations might be. She might also be able to give you the 411 on other city related stuff.

When I ran Chicago in 2000 I stayed at the Congress Hotel with Jen & Dave Miller and the prices were $$$$$ so I 2nd Genie comments and check around.

Thanks, everybody. I went ahead and made reservations at Essex Inn. It's supposed to be 1/4 mile from the start/finish line, so I caved. All I can say is "what a racket!" Ah well, I know it'd be hard to find something cheap in downtown Chicago. Anyhoo, it's my first so I guess I'll try to do it in style.
