And in other sporting news, Maurice Clarrett, former Ohio State running back/illegal money acceptor/drop-out, is wanted for armed robbery by Columbus police.

Somewhere in SF Mike Nolan is happy that he's only been coaching the niners for one season.

Well, Lions, Packers, Vikings, Chiefs, and Rams all looking for new head men already.
Firings to come: Texans, Raiders
Possible firings: Saints, Bills | Good.
I heard the press conference this morning announcing this. Ted Thompson, the Packers' GM, said this (the firing of Mike Sherman) was not an issue of wins and losses.
At first I thought "Huh?" (for the record, my first reaction to a lot of things in life is "Huh?" This may have included when LC told me she was preggers with our son ) But on second thought, it is a good move. Thompson is realizing that the Packers have to adjust to life after Brett - whether the move today was made in part to force Favre's hand remains to be seen - and that Sherman was not the coach to get Aaron Rodgers (or someone else) to run the team. It could also signal the Packers will get away from the Holmgren/Sherman West Coast style of offense.

I read somewhere on the net today, that Chargers D coordinator Wade Phillips is a leading candidate for the Texans job. I have not heard if the Texans job is opened yet.
There is speculation on one of the chargers sites, that Texas Head Coach Dom Capers would be the best guy to replace Phillips.
I thought that was strange. The two guys would basically switch jobs?
just an interesting side note.
Also....It's rumored that Herm Edwards could still leave the Jets to go to the Chiefs. So, you fill one spot, and add the Jets to the list if that happens.

When the Lions interviewed for their last coach - Mariucci - they failed to get with the diversity thing and were fined beaucoup bucks - $100k. Now, they're about to seek permission to speak with Maurice Carthon, Clevelnad "O" co-ordinator.
