Posted: 11/05/02 - 10:04 Post subject: My wonderful evening......
started by arriving home from work and promptly falling down the basement stairs - right from the top. Fortunately no serious injuries although my knee is stiff enough that I couldn't run this morning. Ankle has knot on it and my neck is stiff also. After that event I went to get my wife's p.o.s. car towed because it had died at the bank. While waiting for the tow truck driver I saw a tow truck go by and pull into the bank across the street. Thinking he had missed me, I rush over there, flashing my headlights at him and he finally stops. I go up to window and ask him if he's looking for a white chevy to tow and he says no. I apologize and go back to the car and the real tow truck shows up. He gets car hooked up and as we're exiting the parking lot the freakin' horn on the car starts to blare for no reason at all. We mess around with steering wheel, it stops. And then right in the middle of town it goes off again and stays on. We stop, he gives me a wrench and I unhook battery as people drive by looking at us like we're nuts. Once again we're on our way, tow truck following me. About 2 miles down the road a deer decides it needs to cross the road, I jam on the brakes and it turns around and heads back into the field right before I made venison out of it. Finally we arrive at the repair shop, he unhooks car and presents me the bill for $54. I hand him three 20's and he says he has no change. I ask if he takes Visa, he says yes but he doesn't have the card reader with him. I scrounge in wallet, in truck and finally find enough singles and quarters to pay the guy. I then head home with no further incidents and proceed to inhale two beers and get some much needed sleep. Cripes.

Sorry to hear about you falling down. At least it happened before you drank the beer.
What's wrong with the car?

Not sure. It's been acting up, not getting any spark. I've replaced a coil and the ignition module and both times it ran great for about a week and then died again. I've decided to punt and took it to a mechanic - it's beyond my mechanical skills.

I had a similar problem with my wife's old Sable. There was a short in the computer system that kept causing the ignition module to fail. I ended up taking it to the pro's too.

you have got to look at the bright side of last evening... had i fallen down a flight of stairs, i would have entered the tunnel and seen the white light at the bottom. You survived with just a bump or two
i would have smashed into the deer, leaving the second vehicle trashed and me in therapy for murder.
i must say, though, i love the horn blowing part. what a hoot!! i would have taken the wrench and smashed it through the p.o.s. windshield and told the cheapa$$ no -change- carrying driver to keep the freekin' car.
maybe you should buy a toyota??
glad you lived to tell and swill.
