Posted: 08/25/05 - 12:57 Post subject: My summer vacation - A diary (update 09/03)
I'll keep everyone posted on my "vacation" activities.
Day one:
Vacation officially started at 0230 Wed AM when I left work early to be able to take mom to the hosp for pre admission testing at 0900 Wednesday AM. Did that went shopping, got home about noon. Tried napping then went to the club training session at 1800.
Day two:
Thursday: Began patching driveway in preparation to seal coating it later on in week. Went to Lowes for more patching stuff. Will finish patching driveway then go for a light run or bike ride. (Actually did about a 5 mile run)
Day three:
Friday: Rent spray washer to do deck and front porch. Begin work on shower drain.

Not once did you mention chocolate cake. It is not a vacation without chocolate cake.
Go back and amend that, please.

I think Mai Tais on the deck speak vacation louder than Chocolate Cake. However, in a spirit of accomodation: ok I'll make your @#**&^~ cake.

Got call about power washer for deck and front porch - next Wednesday.
Day four Saturday:

1000 returned home, sprayed down the driveway, began sealcoating driveway. 1300 Finished driveway and 1/4 BB pad in back. Wife had to hit Wal Mart for another two 5 Gal cans - delay of about 45 mins.
1345 showered, cleaned, shaved and all sorts of feelin groovy.
Church at 1630 dinner at 1800. Catatonic state 1900

Sunday:
No home chores today !!!
Took a day trip to Manchester VT to go look at clothing outlets, food outlets, kitchen gadget outlets and surprise !! A bike shop.
Trek 1000 was almost $80 more there than in my area. Got a new pair of Docker chinos at the outlet store. Wife cashed in on a buy 4 get one free 12 pack Pepsi products. Plus there's a rebate. Good deal !!
Saw a cute ceramic plaque in a store today it read:
I love you more today than yesterday.
Yesterday you really pissed me off

You STILL haven't mentioned Mai Tai's or chocolate cake! The least you could have done was have chocolate fudge at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory at the outlet store. Everyone has one!

Monday thru Wednesday some chores.
Wednesday evening I decided to get the leak from our shoer drain fixed, got the new drain connection (shower to pipe) new PVC cement etc. Fortuitously son shows up and helps in the final assembly. He put on the cement, I push pipe in from bottom.
Surprise !! Its all went in perfectly. BUT... this new drain sticks out a little too much (i.e. If I put the sheetrock on I would have to cut out a hole for the trap. Solution: cut the pipe off at the new drain, get a new drain re install.
Thursday: Got mom at 0945, took her to the hospital and got the day operation started. She went in the OR at 1200, out by 1300. After explaining to her she was not getting lunch or dinner, we finally left at 1600. Took her back to the assisted living place, she was doing fine. On the way home picked up a new shower drain.
Friday: Install shower drain.
One week of vacation done with (I go back to work next Friday evening at 2230)
